As early as 1,000 years ago, rorbu cabins were a well-established form of accommodation in Lofoten. What were once crowded lodgings for fishermen during the ardurous months of winter, rorbur (plural for "rorbu") remain a common sight and today serve as comfortable lodgings for visitors.
